2014 UEA Election Results

UEA members elected Park City teacher Heidi Matthews to serve a three-year term as NEA State Director. Matthews narrowly defeated Sevier teacher Curtis Benjamin during general elections that concluded April 18. The position was formerly held by Grand County teacher Ryan Anderson, who has served the maximum number of terms.

Also elected during the UEA General Election were:

  • Ryan Anderson in his bid for NEA-RA Delegate-At-Large;
  • Sonia Cardeña in her bid for Ethnic Minority Director on the UEA Board of Directors;
  • Kathryn Parry in her bid for Color Country Director on the UEA Board of Directors;
  • Heidi Matthews in her bid for Eastern Utah Director on the UEA Board of Directors;
  • Michael McDonough in his bid Granite Director on the UEA Board of Directors;
  • Ross Rogers in his bid for Jordan Director on the UEA Board of Directors; and
  • Mike Harman in his bid for Wasatch Director on the UEA Board of Directors.

National, state and local association leaders are association members elected by their peers. UEA leadership elections are held annually, as outlined in the UEA Bylaws.
