doTERRA named title sponsor of statewide teacher recognition awards
2017 awards to be presented at the ‘Superstars in Education’ Banquet May 19
The Utah Education Association (UEA) recently announced doTERRA International, the world’s leading essential oils company, as the title sponsor of the annual Excellence in Teaching Awards. This year,10 winning teachers will be honored with $1,500 cash, a trophy, a video profile and recognition at a banquet in their honor. Winners are selected based on their outstanding efforts that have significantly impacted the life of an individual child or group of children.
“We express our gratitude to doTERRA for their generous support,” said UEA President Heidi Matthews. “At a time when we are struggling to attract and retain good teachers in our classrooms, we welcome the opportunity to honor our committed teachers and share their stories. doTERRA's contribution allows us to continue our tradition of recognizing the best and the brightest among Utah’s teachers.”
“It is our privilege to support the Excellence in Teaching Awards,” said David Stirling, Founding Executive and CEO. “doTERRA strives to impact the lives of individuals locally and globally in a myriad of ways. We are pleased to contribute to UEA’s awards in celebrating Utah teachers for their long-lasting, immeasurable influence in classrooms across the state.”
The awards will be presented at the Superstars in Education banquet May 19 at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium in Draper. Tickets can be ordered by contacting Meg Tanner at meg.tanner@myUEA.org or by phone at 801-266-4461.
The UEA has presented Excellence in Teaching Awards to 10 teachers each year since 2000. Each winning educator typically receives an award trophy, a commemorative poster and a $1,500 cash award. Since 2016, local PBS station KUED has also produced a video profile for each winner.
The doTERRA Excellence in Teaching Award winners, as well as others who support Utah public education, are honored at the KeyBank Superstars in Education banquet. Other awards presented at the banquet typically include UEA Honor Roll Awards, presented to individuals, businesses or organizations that have made a significant contribution to public education in Utah, and the Charles E. Bennett Human and Civil Rights Award, presented to an individual who has engaged in human and civil rights activities that have benefited education and had community-wide impact.
