UEA Hires UniServ Specialist
The UEA announced it has hired William Spiegel for the position of UniServ Specialist. In this role, Spiegel coordinates membership organizing campaigns, serves as a staff liaison to local education associations/UniServ organizing activities, writes grants and develops membership organizing campaign training materials.
This is a new position, funded in part by a grant from NEA.
Spiegel most recently worked for the Utah State Office of Education in the Professional Practices Advisory Commission (UPPAC). He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah and a Masters in Community Leadership from Westminster College.
“I am excited to join UEA in its work fostering educator leaders throughout Utah,” said Spiegel. “I look forward to meeting and working with such great people.”
Spiegel is an avid skier and a foodie. He serves on the board of the nonprofit organization Slow Food Utah, a group describing itself as “connoisseurs of taste, protectors of food heritage and champions of local producers.”
