What Does the UEA Do?
Utah Education Association members unite together to make a difference, to be a voice for reasoned change, and for mutual support. UEA members effect real change that benefits our profession.
- The UEA provides each member individual liability insurance, immediate access to an Association representative, and on-the-job representation in any employment-related dispute.
- The UEA is the recognized bargaining agent for negotiating educators’ salary, benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment.
- The UEA defends public schools and educators against false and unjustified attacks on public education and fights to prevent cuts in public school funding.
- The UEA is the first to fight measures detrimental to public schools such as private school vouchers, high stakes testing, unreasonable licensing rules and unrealistic demands on educators.
- The UEA advocates excellence in all aspects of public education.
- The UEA is the voice of Utah educators and is highly respected by policy makers, the media, and the public. The UEA speaks as a unified voice to influence reform and progress in education.
- The UEA protects and defends the rights of members, insuring the proper application of board policy, the negotiated agreement, and progress in education.
- The UEA advocates for students and promotes quality public schools, quality teachers, modern and up-to-date learning tools, and smaller class sizes so teachers can spend one-on-one time with students.
That’s what the Association is all about.
